Baby Times
Friday the 25th November, in the year 2002,
Becomes a most important date, in the diary for you.
Because today has come along, although I hardly can believe
That time has passed so quickly, and you’re now on maternity leave.
It seems only a short time ago, when you said “I’ve got something to say,”
You wanted it to be kept quiet, but there was a baby on its way.
And now the months have passed us by and although you’ve kept your figure,
It’s time to put your feet up as the bump gets bigger and bigger.
I’m told these days are heaven as you start to really prepare,
As reality of it all sinks in – your dreams are nearly there.
Of the good old game of life, and as the wheel spins round and round
The happiness of a baby in your lives will soon be found.
No-one can really prepare you, for the experience you will have,
But we know you’ll be surrounded, by family and friends that care and love.
And on Boxing Day if ‘bump’ decides it’s the day it wants to come
Then that is when you know that you have really become a mum.
So although we wish you all the best, as you depart from work today,
You know we’ll miss you lots and lots, and think of you each day.
So please enjoy this special time, set out only for you
And take it easy, and be so careful, in every action that you do!
And everything will go so fine, there’ll be no pain at all,
Cos after all the birth in water has been your chosen call.
So as you float around, and are in total ecstasy,
We’ll drink to you and your husband’s health, and of course your new baby!
