50 years of Carr Hill School
Today we celebrate,
Remembering the times form years ago
Until the present date.

1949 it opened
A junior school so great,
Then infants joined in ‘87
And nursery in ’98.

With a staff of over 20 now
And 500 kids on the roll,
We’re quite the largest primary school
In the area on the whole.

And in all the years at Carr Hill
There’s only been 4 Heads,
To guide and lead the teaching staff
Through learning times ahead.

Years ago a teacher’s aim
Was to teach the old 3 R’s,
Reading, Writing, ‘Rithmetic
Essential stuff by far.

But over these 50 years
Times have changed – it’s true,
So what in 1999
Can Carr Hill offer you?

Numeracy and Literacy
How things work and what they are,
History and Geography
Of countries near and far.

Art, Design, Technology
For the creative and the skilled,
Religious Education
So your moral cup is filled.

I.C.T - Computing
In our lovely brand new suite,
And when the computers decide to work
It really is a treat!

Physical Education
With a Sport’s Day in July,
Music, Dance, and annual play
With auditions – have a try!

Football clubs and cricket
Not to mention netball too,
Recorder clubs and choir
All at lunch times just for you.

Summer Fayres and discos
You can dance the time away,
Fashion shows and shopping trips
Organised by the P.T.A.

The list, my friends, is endless
It can leave you tired and numb,
But Carr Hill has so much to offer
In this year – the Millennium.

So, c’mon and join the party
And celebrate with me,
As I make a toast to Carr Hill School
On its 50th Anniversary
